It’s a new terminal, not a new airport
A few weeks ago (don’t judge my tardiness on posting, I’ve been busy), I had my first chance to fly through the new Colonel H. Weir Cook Terminal at Indianapolis International Airport. And I was impressed.
The Terminal is extremely to navigate for both new flyers and seasoned business travelers. My only complaint was the walkway to enter the concourses, they’re off to the sides of Civic Plaza. I was under the assumption they would be at the end.
My favorite part of the new airport was the addition of recycling. Everywhere. Going in to security there’s paper and plastic/metal bins. Inside each concourse there are numerous recycling bins. It’s a great step forward for the airport, since many travelers buy bottled drinks as soon as they get near their gate.
I’ve compiled a quick list of the best tips for getting through the airport:
- The parking garage is your best bet for a quick trip ($16/day).
Long term parking is $11/day, but you have to take a shuttle. - Level 3 of the parking garage connects to the terminal.
- Concourse A to the right, Concourse B to the left.
- Traveling alone? Go to the left, through the business traveler line.
- A1-5 are located to the right, A6-25 to the left.
B1-5 are located to the left, B6-25 to the right.
- The hanging artwork in the parking garage, separating the north and south sides.
- The magic-music walkway. (I didn’t have the camera in video mode, much more impressive and creepy that way)
- Inside the new terminal, after coming up the escalator from the parking garage.
- Inside Civic Plaza looking west
- RECYCLING! Amazing.
- Looking out to the inner gates, between Concourse A & B
- Crossing from Concourse A to Concourse B, and exiting the concourse to Civic Plaza
- Inside Concourse A. Classy. It even looks like a real airport.
- Looking out onto the tarmac from a gate.
- New seats. A little bit more comfortable than the old ones.
